Disneyland was a lot of fun. The park was not crowded at all so we were able to walk onto most of the rides and didn't wait in any long lines. Logan and Bailey didn't want anything to do with any of the characters so we were able to do a lot of rides. A few of our favorites were: California Screamin, Tower of Terror, Space Mountain, Splash Mountain, Runaway Train, Indiana Jones, Pirates, Matterhorn, and I really liked the new Nemo ride.
The best thing we arranged for our trip was to get a GPS with our car rental. When we first made these trip arrangements, we didn't plan on Disneyland. Our hotel was 5 minutes away from Universal but 35 miles away from Disneyland. On our way to Disneyland, we realized that the power plug for our GPS was not working. This freaked us out because we didn't want it to go out while we were in route. We called Budget and found a place close to Disneyland and we were able to go swap the cord for one that was working, whew!
On the last day of our trip, our flight was leaving at 7:20 pm so we figured we would leave Universal around 4 pm and have plenty of time. Well the great thing about GPS is that when it is plugged into the car lighter, it will find an alternate route if there is traffic. So since we are leaving around 5 o'clock traffic hour, the GPS decides to send us on back roads instead of the freeway. We ended up in downtown LA and because the buildings were so tall, the satelite on the GPS kept going out looking for a signal. Josh and I started to panic to say the least. We were stuck in traffic on streets that I can only describe as the ghetto with people fighting and screaming right outside our windows. We kept our windows rolled up and luckily during this time, the kids were sleeping in the back seats. We were also afraid that we would miss our flight and did stress a little bit about it getting dark. To make a long story short, we made it to the airport at 6:30 and made our flight just in time. We also got a tour of downtown LA, little Tokyo and other areas that I would like to forget. We can laugh about it now but it was not a great way to end our trip. Before the drive from hell, we had a great time and hopefully we can do it again soon.
